Service Projects

Rotary Farmer's Market
Corner of West Front and Meeting Street
Mondays (4:00pm - 7:00pm)
Wednesdays (7:00am - 12:00 p.m.)

The Rotary Farmers Market was established by the Statesville Rotary Club in 1975 to provide local farmers an outlet to sell local grown products and to provide Statesville citizens an opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown produce and other products.  Vegetables, fruit, baked goods, ready-to-eat food items, crafts, plants and flowers may be sold at the Rotary Farmer's Market.

Rotary Environmental Road Cleanup
(Adopt A Highway)

East Broad Street from East Elementary Road to the east end of Broad Street.  Rotary volunteers coordinate to clean up garbage litering East Broad Street once every 3 months.

Members of Rotary ring bells in support of Red Kettle Drive 4 days in late November and early December. 

 

Oyster Roast

Lead Coordinator: Bruce Milligan

 

Iredell County Fairgrounds.  Held annually in the Spring.  Done in combination with the other 2 Statesville and Troutman Rotary Clubs as our main annual fund raiser.  Includes dinner (fried seafood, steamed oysters, and appropriate side dishes), silent auction, and entertainment.  Funds raised through sponsorships and ticket sales are used to support various local programs.

 

Triathlon

Lead Coordinators:  Thomas Alexander and David Bullins

 

Coordinate and conduct a competitive Triathlon in cooperation with a company specializing in the production of triathlons.  Provides a unique event for Statesville, promotes physical activity, and serves as a fundraiser.  Scheduled for the weekend after Mother's Day - May 15, 2010:  from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

      Before Thursday, April 15, 2010:

      Individual Participant: $55.00

      Relay Team: $85.00

      Before Saturday, May 15, 2010:

      Individual Participant: $65.00

      Relay Team: $95.00

      There is a $10.00 fee for each non-USAT registrant.

 

      On-site registration is available for this event on 05-15-2010 during normal packet pick up hours.

Vocational Development

Lead Coordinator: Carol Johnson

 

Activities to learn about various vocations in the community, local businesses, and vocational training.  Also enables members to share information about their vocations.  Includes Club programs and offsite meetings at area businesses.

 

Cart Fund

Lead Coordinator: John Clark

 

"Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust" support.  Money collected in blue CART buckets at tables during meetings.  Members are encouraged to drop in pocket change or bills.  Also conduct other special activities to support CART during the year.

 

Local Youth

Lead Coordinator: Teena Williams

 

Activities to learn about issues facing youth today and to support local youth.  Current activities include a Rotary District Simplified Grant to help expand "The Big Read" (conducted by the Iredell Partnership for Young Children and the Iredell County Library) to younger children and their parents.  Club may also sponsor an Interact Club at a local school.  (Interact is for students in middle or high school).
